Safe America will hold its third Teen Driving Academy (TDI III) at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday May 17, 2008. Like the previous two events, TDI III will provide a day for teens and their parents to learn about driving safety. But thanks to the Allstate Foundation, this year's event will include other activities for the family, and for those who are interested in becoming safer motorcycle riders.
ALL-STATE ALLSTATE SAFETYTHON
The Teen Driving Academy (TDI III) will be the lead event in a day of safety fun for the entire family. The all-day event is called the "All-state Allstate Safetython" because it's open to all Georgia residents. As additional activities are being planned and scheduled, the following are only some of the events that families will be able to participate in:
TEEN DRIVING ACADEMY III PLANS
PLEASE NOTE: While admittance to the family activities at the All-state Allstate Safetython is free, admittance to TDI III costs $40 for a teen and one adult. Complimentary tickets to the event are available. During mid-April to mid-May you can pick up a coupon good for free admission from the special Pepsi display at Public stores throughout Georgia. You can also obtain a complimentary ticket from your local Allstate agent and through other sponsors indicated below (updates weekly). TDI III check-in and registration begins at 8 a.m. Displays and activities will be open to attendees from 8 to 9 a.m. Training will begin at 9:30. As in past events, there will be six separate training modules (pit stops) that parents and teens will attend together. Presenters and exhibitors are still being scheduled. The following list are the areas of training that were conducted in TDI I and II and reflect the likely topics that will be included in TDI III:
--the physical sciences of handling a vehicle in motion: cornering, acceleration, braking, passing and emergency stops
-- auto safety devices and personal security features
-- driving in adverse conditions, such as fog, rain, wind, ice and snow
-- character development and maintaining positive attitudes and values as applied to driving
-- vehicle preventive maintenance
-- buying and insuring a vehicle
-- state laws, requirements and penalties
-- dealing with aggressive drivers and more!
Exhibitions and Interactive Displays will include the following:
- what happens to unbuckled occupants in a roll-over accident
- being behind the wheel of a big rig and what truck drivers see and don't see.
- a severe vehicle crash, including extraction using the Jaws of Life and Life Flight evacuation.
- the deadly risks at railroad crossings.
Share The Road - Motorcycle Safety Training
The Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) will be conducting an all-day motorcycle safety training program as part of the All-state Allstate Safetython. The training will include both classroom and practical training. Motorcyclists are not permitted to use the AMS track. Details are forthcoming, so return soon to plan your participation.
Family Safety Activities
At this year's event, we want to encourage all family members of teens attending TDI III to come out and enjoy a day of fun at AMS. There will be fun activities and opportunites to learn about safety throughout the day. Check back soon as we add information about activities that have been scheduled.

- Food and beverage concessions will be available for purchase at the event. Coolers and picnic baskets are not permitted, but attendees may pass in and out from the event to retrieve items from their vehicles.
