Driver Education at Safe America
All Safe America driver education courses are licensed by the State of Georgia Department of Driver Services, regardless of location. Each student will attend 30 hours of classroom training, which includes the State-required Alcohol and Drug Awareness (ADAP) training. Students will also complete either 6 hours or 10 hours of private, individual behind-the-wheel training with a licensed driver training instructor.
The behind-the-wheel training is performed in individually scheduled 2-hour increments which must occur within the 6 months following the classroom training.
The students Behind the Wheel instructor will contact the student within two weeks following the completion of classroom training to schedule the hands-on Behind the Wheel training.
While the 6-hour training package satisfies the state requirement for full driver education programs, the 10-hour package gives the student more on-the-road confidence and the parent greater confidence in their teen's abilities.
Graduates of both programs are eligible for a 10% reduction in insurance premiums to drivers under 25 years of age, if otherwise qualified; and parents are eligible for a $150 Georgia Income Tax Credit.

Note: The Driver Education classes are provided by the Safe America Foundation. Scheduling is done through the Timothy Ministry of First Baptist Church of Woodstock. These classes are offered over the fall and spring semesters, each Tuesday for 15 weeks. Class times are 10 a.m. – Noon; 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.; and 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Classes are open to the public and all teens are welcome. The Tuesday 4 p.m. class is designed to accomodate students attending public and private schools.
Pricing info:
30 hours of Driver Education Classroom instruction, fee is $125.00
6 hours of Behind the Wheel Instruction, fee is $225.00
30 hours of Classroom and 6 hours of Behind the Wheel instruction, total fee is $350.00
Additional Behind the Wheel Instruction hours are available at $59/hour with a two hour minimum
