Foundation Kicks Off 2nd Annual ‘Drill Down for Safety’ Season; Seeks 1 Million Participants
Atlanta, GA (September 1) – The Safe America Foundation kicked off its month-long ‘9/11 Drill Down for Safety’ national preparedness campaign today with a call for all Americans to conduct a personal emergency drill and practice how they would text family members to let them know they were “OK” in a post-disaster situation.
West Virginia First Lady Gayle Manchin was joined by NJ First Lady Mary Pat Christie in endorsing Safe America’s ‘Text First. Talk Second™’ campaign last week in New York. Leaders from civic, government and business were all smiles following a four-hour meeting at NBC’s 30 Rockefeller HQ that previewed Safe America’s “9/11 Drill Down for Safety” program. The Safe America Foundation took part in the launch of Oprah Winfrey's “No Phone Zone” campaign recently as a non-profit partner in Atlanta. This summer, Safe America will continue its 'don't text-and-drive' campaign with expansion of its 'Exit 2 Text It!' program.
